The Absolute Madness That Broke Out The Night Before Le MansS

The night before Le Mans was absolute madness in a traffic circle near the track. How much absolute madness you ask? Find out after the jump.

When I finally arrived at Le Mans after a long drive from Stuttgart the friday before the race, I needed to find a free spot at a campsite near the track. As you may assume, most of the good parking/camping areas were sold out, and as far as I was aware, there was only one campground left. To get to this campground, you had to go on a road that basically went around and under the track. And on this road, there were two traffic circles. The first traffic circle was fine, but the second one, crazy.

In the second traffic circle on this road, the night before the race, there were hundreds of people in crowds drinking large amounts of beer, yelling, throwing glass bottles, taking down signs, throwing explosives, all while forcing those passing through to rev their engine and do a burnout in place. These people were incredibly courteous when you would at least attempt a burnout, but when you tried to go around, they would hop on your car, intensely rock your vehicle, open your doors, or throw beer at you.

It was crazy.

Luckily for me, when I had to go through the circle the people were slightly more calm so I was able to perform a small burnout to please them. But for the first few moments I entered the circle, I had no idea what was going on. Hundreds of people surrounding my car, rocking it, a gentleman shoving his private parts slung in a banana hammock against my window. I was not expecting any of this.

Fortunately, to my knowledge, no one was injured during this. It just resulted in hundreds of Europeans having a good time and some severely pissed drivers.

This fine gentlemen was the leader of most of it but I most definitely cannot forget his assistant in the banana hammock.

An example of how big the explosions got in the circle. There were also bottle rockets being shot off.

The crowd got pretty excited when a 911 appeared.

Despite the damages that may have occurred that night, I truly think that it was awesome and probably one of the craziest things I've experienced in my young life. This is just one more reason as to why everyone reading this has to go to Le Mans.
