On German Ebay I found this nice 1987 Passat wagon. It's said to be a Passat GT with the most powerful engine available at the time. So not the 1.6 (72 hp), the 1.8, 2.0 or one of the diesels (starting at 54 hp). No, it's got the 2.2 (116 hp). It's drivable, road legal, lowish miles (149k km = 93k miles) and it's said to have hardly any rust. It does have some downsides though. The paint is flaky and the battery and wipers are said to be defective. As is the interior (?). Interestingly the front VW badge has morphed into a badge with a recognizable face.
