Leather repair?

So I have some wear on the Grand Marquis's driver seat and arm rest. 79k miles is low for a 22 year old car, but 79k of mostly relatively short old people moving trips means you probably got in and out of the car about as much as most normal people would if they had twice the mileage. The arm rest is the most annoying part (pictured above). It is dry and cracked to the point that is has become abrasive and thus not comfortable if you are driving with bare elbows. Anywho... there's DIY repair kits out there, but I'd like to hear it straight from the Jal-oppo's mouth. Any of them good? Have ye a better idea?

Also, what crackhead at ford thought that light of a carpet would be a good idea?
