With Fiat purchasing the majority of Chrysler a discussion came up of Dodge potentially getting the shared Alfa-Mazda MX-5 platform. A Dodge MX-5 (Copperhead concept) could compete directly with the Mazda in its own price point, but why would Mazda allow this? I think that if Fiat-Chrysler offered the GrandCherokee/Durango platform as a new CX-9 it would make sense for both automakers. Mazda is short on R/D cash and I hope they don't pump it into another big crossover, but they do need to continue the product.
