I've noticed I haven't posted anything here in far too long. Unfortunately, I do have one of those life things outside of Oppo. I know, it sounds absolutely thrilling, doesn't it? Anyway, I've been mulling over what to write about over the past few days... Needless to say I wasn't particularly successful in my... uhhh... mulling? That is, until today. Normally I try to post about quirky cars that weren't particularly loved, successful, or even good looking. Yet, there is a thin layer of inexplicable charm with some of these cars. I'm going to venture into a world that I know nothing about, and do feel free to correct me. It started out with a question... "Does anyone actually appreciate the Porsche 968?"

The 968 really is the red-headed stepchild of the Porsche family. Yes, we can all moan for days about 914 this and 928 that, but the 968 fits in this bizarre era of Porsche history. A natural evolution of the 944, the 968 occupied a brief piece of Porsche history in the early 90s. I'll be first to admit, I've never driven one, barely see them, and I have no idea how particularly good they are. Something does draw me to them... Almost like the sick puppy nobody wants to adopt. Here's a Turbo RS Version. All of four built with 350 hp. Yum.

Help me Love the 968

Judging by the pricing of this particular variant at recent auctions (It's expensive, trust me), we'll all have to look a tad downmarket. I've noticed a few base models hovering at under $20k for very clean examples. Can any of you Opponauts chime in and provide better information on this?

That all being said, why should we be compelled to buy one of these over a 944? I really don't know. Perhaps it's a lot better, perhaps it isn't. Like I said, I don't know a darn thing about these. Yet, I'm oddly attracted to it simply because it's different, arguably unloved, and is very conducive to my ramblings online.

Help me Love the 968

You can certainly make them look extremely delicious though. I mean, just look at it, it's gorgeous in an alt kind of way. It's like that artsy chick you dated in college. A tad pretentious, a tad plain, but she'll give you an awfully good run. (I hope Jezebel doesn't get a hold of that line, I will profusely apologize for offending EVERYONE)

If I were to get in the market for one, what would I want? Is it worth it? Why can't I stop typing? Help me guys. Help me elevate the 968.
