Hour 3 was less eventful than hour 2, but it still saw plenty of on-track dicing and, thanks to a penalty and a minor issue, a lead change in both of the primary classes.
In LMP1, the story of the hour was McNish's penalty in the once leading #2 Audi. He made a move to get around a wayward LMPC, who spun behind him as he got by. Most agree it wasn't worthy of a penalty, but Paul Walter assessed the #2 a 60 second stop and hold. When McNish returned to the track from his penalty, he came out second, behind his team mate Fassler in the 1.
In LMP2, Pagenaud lead early but spun after contact with the ESM #02, ceding the lead to the ESM #01. The ESM 02 spun twice more on it's own later in the stint and now sits a comfortable last of the five LMP2 cars, which are all still rather close together.
In LMPC, the PR1 #52 still leads comfortable over the RSR #9, while the once third place #500 has lost a lap due to an unscheduled stop.
In GT, the #4 Corvette that's lead the entire event to this point has lost it's lead thanks to a long stop. The driver, Richard Westbrook, reported smoke in the cockpit, and the Pratt & Miller team looked over his car to find the issue. They found now issue, and put the car back out with a driver change, but it took long enough to move the #62 Risi Competizione into the lead.
In GTC, Cooper MacNeil still comfortably leads for AJR.
